Monteith’s Doppelbock Winter Ale is a beautifully bold and full-bodied brew with a deep earthy red hue.
The Doppelbock style is traditionally high in alcohol and originated from Munich by the Paulaner monks in the early 1600s as a unique means to provide nourishment to Monk’s during their fasting periods whereby they could not consume solid foods. For this reason it is often referred to as “liquid bread”.
Brilliant in colour with a strong, frothy head and a wonderfully smooth chocolately flavour, the Winter Ale certainly warms the cockles of your heart on those cold winter nights. Monteith’s Doppelbock Winter Ale is a strong malt-driven beer with four malts used in the brew, exhibiting profound flavour intensity.
Due to the intensity of the flavour and higher alcohol content, Monteith’s Doppelbock Winter Ale will complement gamey meats exceptionally well. Try it with some wild-herb encrusted, barbecued Kangaroo.
