As I pour this tall, golden bottle of brilliance, a vigorous creamy head, explodes from the glass like a volcano. Emitting yeasty esters and strong notes of clove, spice and banana I was drawn in… I couldn’t wait any longer…
Schöfferhofer Hefeweizen is a brilliantly smooth, cloudy wheat beer with a rich yeasty taste. Schöfferhofer is named after Peter Schöffer, a German chap from the 1400s. His house Mainzer Schöfferhof became the origin of the brewery and this beer.
Peter Schöffer – that’s quite a beard I must say
Schöfferhofer Hefeweizen exhibits refreshing flavours of banana, lemon zest and a earthy hoppy mouthfeel combined with cloves and spice.
This brilliant Hefeweizen goes well with rich meaty dishes such as chargrilled, mustard-infused wagyu burgers… I’m getting hungry right now!
