From the land of some of Australia’s most famous wines, comes a beer that is broadening the views of what McLaren Vale has become known for. With plenty awards in hand, Vale Ale is making a name for itself.
I first discovered this beer hidden in a secret cupboard next to the work beer fridge and was immediately tempted by the inviting label I could see peering out at me. Curious, I reached in a grabbed a bottle. The label, strangely, felt great in hand with a nice texture from the small dots spread across it.
Copper in colour, Vale Ale emits a mild earthy hop aroma and pours a small, quickly diminishing head. Slightly less flavourful than most American Pale Ales, Vale Ale has very noticeable passionfruit and green apple flavour and light hoppy aftertaste. Because this APA is significantly less bold it makes for a great BBQ beer for those long summer lunches.
I enjoy this beer but when I see a Little Creatures in the work fridge… I’ll be grabbing that right away!
